A new event space for Fitzrovia
This project has achieved funding to create a flexible event space for performances and exhibitions, a pop-up green space and a café in the heart of Fitzrovia.
Why is an event space needed in Fitzrovia?
The project aims to create a flexible space for all to enjoy. It will look to host a range of activities, including a Christmas market, a music, film and poetry festival and heritage celebrations. These activities will lead to increased visitors to the area and therefore higher spending in local businesses. There is currently nowhere to host events of this style nearby.
The project will complement Camden Council's West End Project, currently in progress and due to be delivered in 2017-18.
What will this event space do?
This Fitzrovia event space project will:
- create a platform event space which can be installed when needed and stored away when not
- consider creating a 'London in Bloom' pop-up garden, café and Sculpture Festival
- host a range of events and activities for locals and visitors to enjoy, leading to more spending in the area
- work with local design professionals to determine what the space will look like
- consider using planters and hanging baskets to improve air quality
- install attractive temporary street furniture, new lighting, new signage as needed
