The London Enterprise Adviser Network (LEAN) connects schools and colleges with employers and entrepreneurs so that all young Londoners are aware of the career pathways and opportunities available to them.

Over 500 London schools and colleges are part of the London Enterprise Adviser Network. They are supported by nearly 600 volunteer Enterprise Advisers from different industry sectors and professional backgrounds, be that employed, self-employed or recently retired. This is part of a national network of almost 4,000 schools and colleges across the country.

The Network is co-funded by the Careers & Enterprise Company and the Mayor of London. It is delivered by Local London & ELBA (East London), Reed In Partnership (West, Central and South London) and Talentino in special schools and colleges.

London Careers Hubs

The Mayor wants every young person growing up in this city to have access to excellent careers education for a great start in life and a successful future. Building on the success of the London Enterprise Adviser Network, we are pleased to announce that Careers Hubs will be launched in London in September 2021.

A Careers Hub is a group of secondary schools and colleges in a dedicated area that work together to deliver the Gatsby Benchmarks. Collaborating with business partners, the public, education and voluntary sectors, they help deliver the Gatsby Benchmarks and improve careers outcomes for young people.

We are inviting expressions of interest from schools and colleges who want to join their sub-region's Careers Hub in September 2021 as part of our first cohort. Please contact your Enterprise Coordinator to request an expression of interest form.

Get involved

The Network is made up of passionate, experienced professionals who are committed to preparing young people to make informed choices about their future.

Whether you are a Careers Leader looking to enhance your careers education provision, an employer looking to inspire young people to join your industry, or an individual wanting to volunteer locally - our Network can support you. All of our support is free of charge.

We are recruiting for new Enterprise Advisers in every London borough. Find out more and apply below.

How to get involved

If you are a mainstream secondary school, further education or sixth form college, a special school, pupil referral unit or alternative provider, you are encouraged to join over 85% of London's schools and colleges already in our network.

We will match you to an Enterprise Adviser (business volunteer) and offer you a plethora of resources, and opportunities that help you build and deliver a comprehensive careers programme and meet the Gatsby Benchmarks.

Join our network by registering using the button below or email us at [email protected]

If you are an individual looking to volunteer to give back to your local community, support the next generation or develop your own skills; consider becoming an Enterprise Adviser for a local school or college.

Read our Enterprise Adviser role description for more information and apply using the button below.

If you want to help young Londoners prepare for their future careers but can't commit to the Enterprise Adviser role, consider volunteering on a one-off basis through our Give an Hour campaign.

We will connect you with a careers event at a local school or college. You could speak to a class about your sector, play a role in a business competition, carry out a mock interview or support a CV workshop.

Even these short activities make a big difference and can change a young person’s life. Sign up for our Give an Hour campaign.

Are you an employer, large or small, looking to diversify your talent pipeline, inspire young people into your sector, get involved in your local community, or develop staff skills?

The Network can help you to engage with local young people in a range of ways that suit your objectives and the needs of the school or college.

Whether you have an established programme or are exploring engaging with young people for the first time, we want to hear from you.

The Enterprise Adviser role

Enterprise Advisers are business volunteers who work in senior roles. They volunteer their time to help bridge the gap between the world of work and education, working with the Careers Leader and wider senior leaders of the school or college to create opportunities for young people.
