London Living Wage
What is the London Living Wage?
The London Living Wage is an hourly rate of pay, currently set at £13.15. It is calculated independently to reflect the high cost of living in the capital, giving a worker in London and their family enough to afford the essentials and to save.
However, organisations must choose to pay their employees the London Living Wage - higher than what they're required to pay by law.
This is why the Mayor is championing the benefits of the Living Wage - to the lives of Londoners and to your business - and encouraging employers to opt in.
How can it benefit your business?
It makes good business sense - employers who pay the Living Wage:
- see reduced absenteeism and sick leave
- find it easier to recruit and retain staff
- see a huge boost to staff morale and productivity
- see improved brand awareness.

Further support for working Londoners
The Mayor is one of London's largest employers, and the organisations he leads will set an example. All interns and apprentices at City Hall are paid the London Living Wage.
What else is the Mayor doing to help hard working Londoners?
