School place projections
London’s booming population has led to a rising demand for school places across much of the city.
Planning for school places
To help school place planners we offer projections of the number of pupils who will be at schools in the future.
We also provide further analysis for school place planners:
- data and analysis of cross-border pupil mobility
- tools showing trends in migration of school age children
- birth and fertility data and analysis
Most of this work is produced under contract to local authority subscribers, but we also provide information for the public. The 2016 London Schools Atlas, Small Area Population Projections and other tools can be used by parents and free school groups and can be found on the Datastore School Pupil Data pages.
London Schools Atlas
The London Schools Atlas is an innovative interactive online map. It provides a uniquely detailed and comprehensive picture of London schools, current patterns of attendance and potential future demand for school places.
The Atlas is an open and accessible tool for anyone interested in providing good school places for all, including local authorities, free school groups, academy chains, policy makers and commentators.
For parents and children it offers the best insight yet into the educational options available to their family, wherever they live or choose to live. It only includes state schools. Every institution has its own entry requirements and admission process.
