Trustees are critical to a charity’s success. A diverse and representative Board of Trustees provides the skills, guidance and insight to navigate the path to success. Come and join one of these free workshops if you are looking to recruit new trustees or are considering governance as your next rewarding volunteering role.

Training

Does your charity struggle to recruit the trustees you need? Could a more diverse and representative Board of trustees offering a wider range of skills, backgrounds, life experience and perspective give your charity the impetus it needs to reach the next level?

The GLA Team London and Sport team are working with specialists in trustee recruitment Getting on Board to deliver these workshops which will help you to identify the trustees that would further support the development of your charity, and show you how to improve your recruitment processes. You will leave with a clearer idea of the type of trustees you need, a draft advert, a list of free places to advertise, and a plan to ensure that new trustees hit the ground running.

This workshop is hosted across five London boroughs and is aimed at all those who recruit trustees, whether you are currently a trustee or member of senior staff. CEO’s and Chairs are welcome to attend together.

There are an estimated 100,000 vacancies for charity trustees -come along and find out how to create and recruit a stronger, more diverse board.

*Please note all sessions are virtual.

The Introduction to Trusteeship session will suit those who are thinking about becoming a trustee, are new to trusteeship or those wanting a refresher on trusteeship.

The workshop, delivered by Reach Volunteering over 5 host London boroughs will give a broad overview of responsibilities and working practices of governance volunteering roles. These roles are hugely rewarding and a fantastic self-development opportunity, you will learn how to find the best role for you and what to expect. You will also be first to hear about new trustee roles just being marketed.

Good governance is the key to the survival and sustainability of any not for profit organisation. Pressures on charities to deliver vital services are ever increasing, so a strong, diverse and representative board of trustees is even more important in the current environment.

Everyone has something to share, skills, knowledge, perspective, life experience or passion for a certain cause.

Come to this introductory session and learn more about how you can make a real and immediate impact to your community.

*Please note all sessions will be virtual.

Answered so many questions and de-mystified a lot of pre-conceptions I had about trusteeship. I feel this is something I can now definitely pursue.
