Biography
Jon-Paul has been Head of City Operations since 2019 when the City Operations Unit was formed.
Jon-Paul joined the GLA in 2003 as a member of the GLA’s FM Helpdesk and Switchboard Team. Since joining the GLA Jon-Paul has held a variety of roles, his past work includes delivering some of the capital’s largest outdoor events including RideLondon, F1 Live and the MTV EMAs in Trafalgar Square. Jon-Paul has also led the GLA’s response to some of the capital’s most tragic events such as the Croydon Tram crash and London Bridge terror attacks.
Jon-Paul was awarded an MBE in the 2023 Birthday Honours, in recognition of his contribution to the State Funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Jon-Paul lives in southeast London with his husband and their Labrador.
Responsibilities
Jon-Paul is responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership to the GLA’s City Operations Unit which includes ensuring the GLA has a robust framework for responding to emergencies.
Strategic lead for ensuring the GLA meets its statutory obligations as a Cat 1 Responder as defined by the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.
Lead the on-going strategic development of the capital’s situational awareness capability. Working with national and regional partners to ensure real-time monitoring and identification of critical incidents and information and turn this into actionable intelligence.
Strategic development of pan-London multi-agency coordination plans for the delivery of major ceremonial events in the capital.
